Frequently Asked Questions

What is required to use Ring2Teams?

The first thing required is the correct Microsoft licenses.

If you have a Enterprise or Business license then you will need to add ‘365 Phone System’ license. E5 licenses already include 365 Phone System so nothing else if required.

The second thing required is your IP PBX credentials. We can use your current extensions username and password or create a new extension for us to use. We use this information to connect our middle ware soft phone to your PBX which will register as a device.

What will change when I use Ring2Teams?

You will be able to use the Microsoft Teams dial pad as your current PBX on the desktop and on any mobile phone.  You will be able to communicate with your PBX from within Teams – Portals, Feature Codes, Soft-Keys.  Nothing else will change with your current telephone – you will have an application in Teams if you want.

How is Microsoft Teams different than using my current desktop phone?

Its not different from your phone.  Its a software based phone – or a softphone.  With the Ring2Teams application you replicate the things your desktop phone does with soft-buttons in Teams – so you don’t lose anything.  However, since you are using Microsoft Teams you get the benefits of unified communications features like screenshare, video conferencing, whiteboarding, file sharing and team collaboration.

How will the installation of the Ring2Teams affect my existing phone system ?

It will not effect your current settings.  Ring2Teams will not change your existing PBX setup or your existing Microsoft Teams account (unless you are using Direct Routing already for the Users).  It links them with a light touch.

Can I use my existing phone numbers?

Yes. The integration acts as another extension on your phone system, when you dial from teams it will send the call to your PBX and make a call out using your existing lines. You will be able to see the presence of people calling out from teams as a normal phone would.

Will the Microsoft Teams mobile app work with the Ring2Teams?

Yes.  The App dial pad is your PBX extension.

What Countries will Ring2Teams work in?

Ring2Teams is available in all countries & compatible with any Office 365 Language. The service portal is currently administered in English only. Ring2Teams uses SBC’s in several continents to route calls from your PBX to Office 365, more of these are being deployed as customers require geographic coverage.
